Dark Discoloration Spots
These can be anywhere in the home but are most likely in rooms with water such as the bathroom or kitchen, and in secluded areas like the attic or crawl space. Green, brown, or even black discoloration is most likely mold that's already starting to eat away at whatever is there. In the attic you may see it on wood, but sometimes it may be hiding under the dust or even the insulation. The same is true for the crawl space. Don't be fooled into thinking is doesn't matter as much if it's growing in these rarely accessed areas, because if untreated it will continue to spread and damage your home. -
Noticeable Bad Smell
Often described as a mildew smell, you're most likely notice it near the entrances to the attic or crawl space as that's where mold is most likely to be. This may be one of your earliest indications that there's a problem, especially if neither area is frequently cleaned and looked at. Don't ignore it if you notice a foul odor! You should have either space checked as soon as possible to take care of the problem early. -
Troubles With Health
Spores from the mold can aggravate allergy symptoms and cause negative effects on those with breathing conditions like asthma, so if anyone in your home is having trouble with these things even indoors, this could mean you have an issue with mold. Poisoning is possible if the mold is present for long enough, and this causes even more severe symptoms. Things like headaches, dizziness, and other such neurological issues can indicate poisoning and mean that the mold needs to be removed right away by professionals. -
Water Or Moisture Trouble
If your home has had problems with water leaks from the roof or pipes, or if there's a noticeable buildup of moisture such as condensation on the windows, this means your house is becoming the perfect environment for mold! Even if it's not present yet, it likely will be soon so be wary.
